In his State of the Nation Address on July 24, 2017, then President Rodrigo Roa Duterte unveiled the Build, Build, Build program that kicked off the “Golden Age of Infrastructure” in modern Philippine history.
579 commercial and social tourism ports as well as 248 airport projects were completed.
13,917 flood control projects were also completed during the Duterte administration.
150,000 school buildings were also constructed.
The BBB projects provided at least 6.5 million jobs to Filipinos.
Among the major completed projects under the BBB are the final section of TPLEX Plaridel By-Pass Road Phase II, NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 and C3-10 Section, Skyway Stage 3, and Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension.
Also, the road sections of Central Luzon Link Expressway, Cavite Laguna Expressway, and Manila Cavite Toll Expressway were completed.
Three major build projects in Metro Manila were completed: Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge; Bonifacio Global City-Ortigas Center Link Road Project; and Binondo-Intramuros Bridge.
The Davao City-By-pass Road Project, the country’s longest road mountain tunnel, was also started.
The Luzon Spine Expressway Network Program was also pushed. Once completed, it will reduce the travel time from Ilocos to Bicol from 20 hours to 9 hours.
The Duterte administration also pushed for the expansion of the country’s rail system. Among these is the Metro Manila Subway Project with the Duterte administration securing funding for Phase 1 of the project in May 2022.
The Duterte administration got the approval of the Asian Development Bank to provide $4.3B to help finance the construction of the Metro Manila-Calamba rail line.
