Marlyn “Len” Legaspi Primicias-Agabas is the incumbent Representative for the Sixth District of Pangasinan in the Ilocos Region.
In the May 2022 general election, Rep. Agabas won the congressional race for Pangasinan’s Sixth District by getting 92.6 percent or 231,864 of the votes.
In the current Congress, Rep. Agabas was among the proponents of the New Agrarian Emancipation Act (Republic Act No. 11953), which condoned all the unpaid amortizations of the principal debt, including interest and surcharges incurred, by agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs). This is considered a landmark legislation in the current Congress.
She is also currently one of the Vice Chairpersons of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and Welfare, and one of the Deputy Majority Leaders of the House Committee on Rules. She is also a majority member of the Committee on Persons with Disabilities.
Prior to her getting elected to Congress, Rep. Agabas served as the Vice Governor of Pangasinan from 2007 to 2010. As Vice Governor, she was instrumental in the rehabilitation of Pangasinan’s capitol building and Sison Auditorium. Furthermore, she supported and sponsored various ordinances, some of which helped inspire patriotism among the people of Pangasinan, such as celebrating Veteran’s Day every January 9.
She also served as a member of the Pangasinan Provincial Board from 1998 to 2007, and a councilor for San Nicolas, Pangasinan from 1992 to 1995.
Rep. Agabas finished her bachelor’s degree in Commerce at the University of Santo Tomas and obtained her law education at the then San Beda College. She received her master’s degree in National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines based in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
She is the wife of former Congressman Tyrone Agabas, and related to former Pangasinan Governor Cipriano “Tito” Primicias Jr. and former Senator Cipriano Primicias Sr.
