Hadjiman Sabbihi Hataman Salliman, more known as Jim Hataman Salliman or Jim Salliman, is the concurrent Governor of Basilan province in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Gov. Salliman was reelected Governor in the 2022 election by garnering more than 50 percent of the votes. This was his second successful election as Governor, having won the 2016 polls.
Prior to his election as Governor, he served as Basilan’s At-large Congressional District Representative from 2010 to 2016, and Mayor of Sumisip from 2001 to 2004.
As Governor, Salliman led meaningful efforts to bring peace and order to Basilan. One such effort is the province’s reintegration program, which won recognition at the Galing Pook Award 2022. The program focused on reintegrating former rebels into society through the provision of assistance from local government units. As a result, the presence of anti-government groups such as the Abu Sayyaf weakened in Basilan.
Also, his governorship witnessed significant progress in Basilan, with it being removed from the list of top 10 poorest provinces in the Philippines. Infrastructure and public facilities were constructed across the island province, while housing projects were initiated to benefit deserving beneficiaries. The Governor is also an advocate for the rights and representation of ethnic minorities, such as the various Muslim groups native to BARMM.
Gov. Salliman has two brothers, namely Mujiv Hataman, incumbent Basilan Representative in the House of Representatives, and Boy Hataman, current Sumisip Vice Mayor.
