BEN EVARDONE

Ben P. Evardone is the incumbent Governor of Eastern Samar, and the longest-serving governor of the province.  

Gov. Evardone was elected twice to Eastern Samar’s top post, allowing him to serve continuously from 2004 to 2010. After his stint as Eastern Samar’s Lone District Representative in the House of Representatives from 2010 to 2019, he successfully ran for the governorship in the 2019 election and was reelected in the May 2022 election with a massive lead of 211,554 votes. 

As governor, he led the provincial government in implementing a pro-people agenda that is responsive to the needs of the people in Eastern Samar. This included projects and programs to deal with the effects of climate change like disaster risk resiliency, reforestation, and soil and water conservation; and establishment of landslide barriers, flood control systems, and storm surge protection. Gov. Evardone also pushed for irrigation systems in the province and provided livelihood opportunities. 

Also, throughout his terms as governor, he brought government services closer to the people. With the “Serbisyo Caravan,” he and the entire provincial government are able to reach to far-flung communities in Eastern Samar and provide access to much-needed services to them.
